Tutorial: Revamp Your Jewellery! DIY Spiked Necklace

I like browsing through charity shops sometimes, and pick up bits and bobs thinking I’ll be altering it someday. Well, that day did certainly come in the form of ‘itchy fingers’! As spiked jewellery is stirring quite a statement at the moment, I thought why not make my own with a gold chain necklace I picked up at one of the charity shops in Edinburgh for just £1?

Here’s an easy tutorial on how I revamped a necklace I picked up at a charity shop:

  • FYI that is not a crafts plier as most of my tools are in packed boxes! I actually used a proper man’s tool…oops!
  • For better precision, use a round nose plier and flat nose plier

  • Attach the spike not onto the next ring, but on the ring after as you do not want to squeeze it too tightly.

THE RESULT:

…and there you have it! A simple easy DIY to revamp your jewellery! It has been really fun to do, and I hope to do more projects like these in the future :D

Have you recently revamped a piece of jewellery? Tell me, I’d love to know! :D
